    Collection “KAWAII”

The theme of the KAWAII collection is kawaii aesthetics and culture.

“Polite silhouettes, oversized collars, white knee socks, and innocent uniforms”. - This is how designer Joanna Hawrot describes her new collection. It attempts to rewrite multicultural rhetoric into the language of fashion, design, and pleasure.  Kawaii culture, as it is known in Japanese pop culture, inspired Hawrot to create a collection that pauses over her own needs and the changing language of pleasure. The collection is an intimate dialogue with herself and a creative representation of what is closest to her. Variations of schoolgirl kawaii, oversized collars, white knee socks, and innocent uniforms are infused with gently erotic energy that empowers and emancipates the wearers. The collection will be part of the exhibition “Kimono as Experience. The New Language of Art by Joanna Hawrot” at the National Museum in Wroclaw from June 18 to August 25, 2024.

    THE PLEASURE IS MINE COLLECTION

The collection was born out of the need to speak with one's voice and nurture female qualities and relationships. It is also a declaration of independence in matters of deciding about one's own body, aesthetics, choices, and fantasies. About what we are allowed and what we are not allowed to do. It is deeply affirmative, even stimulating. It warms us to be ourselves. To cultivate relationships and self-realization - also through sustainable fashion. THE PLEASURE IS MINE is thus not only about erotic pleasure but also about the pleasure derived from what and how one wears. Clothing can be an amulet of power; it can embolden and transcend taboos. It can also change habits and predict alliances.

    "SHUNGA" collection

The “SHUNGA” collection is inspired by traditional Japanese erotic engravings.

“SHUNGA” is a collection that brings Japanese erotic art into contemporary fashion. Inspiration is drawn from traditional Japanese engravings, depicting intimate scenes subtly and artistically. Designer Joanna Hawrot creates clothes that balance the covered and the uncovered, exposing tenderness and sensuality in a modern context. Pieces such as kimonos, flowing hakamas, and built-in shirts with long cuffs are made of soft materials that gently wrap the body. The collection aims to express individuality and enhance sensual experiences through fashion.
