Joanna Hawrot Atelier

The flagship HAWROT atelier is a space for fashion, art, and creative collaborations. Kopernika 8/18, running parallel to Nowy Świat, is a street of architectural contrasts. The characteristic gallery-style building, the longest on Kopernika Street, features impressive display windows—"It was these windows, six meters high and flooded with sunlight on clear days, that captivated me even more than the central location itself," says designer Joanna Hawrot.

"The HAWROT sign was first put up here a few years ago. During the pandemic, we had to temporarily relocate, but as soon as it became possible, we returned to Kopernika—this time to number 18. That was when I rediscovered the potential of this space. On one hand, it was intimate, but at the same time, open; it had something of a theatrical box, where scenes could be arranged for passersby strolling through the passage."

The atelier’s exhibitions change cyclically in the form of temporary showcases, evolving with the release of new collections and corresponding to their themes. If striking, conceptual storefronts and well-thought-out, high-quality architectural projects have so far been a pleasant accent in Warsaw’s urban landscape and a good practice, Joanna Hawrot adds a new dimension to this phenomenon—by hosting artists, she creates exhibitions at the intersection of fashion and art.
